And I Have This Shoebox
And I Have This Shoebox
And I have
A box
A shoebox
I keep
Tucked
Deep away
In my closet
But close
Enough
To know it’s
There
And when
I have guts
Or loneliness
Or
Just because
I take it
Out
And look
Through it
Notes
Pictures
Knick knacks
And even
A book
Memories
All packed
Neatly
Warmly
In my
Shoebox
Reminders
All
Of them
Every
Little thing
Yourself
Pretty enough
Beautiful always
To imprint
Visuals
When I
Close my
Eyes
And
The notes
Post its
Books
Re-read
Pictures
Re-visited
Tragically
Died
Left alone
Too early
Only half
Full
On fun
Or my heart
As
I place it
Carefully
Into the
Shoebox
Only to
Hoping to
Take it
Back
Out
Later
