Once In Love

Once In Love

Once in love
But now in loss
A ship trying to find
Its way
With no lighthouse
To guide it
Home
Every night
Rough seas
And rainy storms
Ahead
No sun or daylight
In sight

Once in love
But now in loss
A boy
In search of
The lost treasure
The lost treasure
Of love
Never to find it
And he will
Likely
Die trying
Overcome
With greed
Of the thought
Of feeling
Of being
In love

Once in love
But now in loss
A girl stands
On her porch
Waiting to be
Picked up for prom
Her date
To never show
The perfect dress
Flowers
And hair
Never to be shown
To her love
Or anyone

Once in love
But now in loss
An old man
Sits by his
Window
Watching the rain
Streaking down
The window pane
As tears
Streak down his
Face
Grieving
The loss
Of his wife
Of sixty-four years
For once
In sixty-four years
He is now
All alone

Once in love
But not in loss
I was
Once in love
But now in loss
