We Are Young

We Are Young

And at
8:30 this
Morning
Huddling over
A toilet
Truly exposing
Myself
While trying to hide
My inner
Emotions
As they're
On the seat

Another long
Night
But not the
One you'd
Think
For it's only
Thursday

And if I could
Use a drink
I would use
One right now

Work on the
Heavy
And phone calls
For traded positions
States away
Upgrade in dollar
Signs
Downgrade in
Distance

Noon thirty
To come soon
Reports due
But the biggest
Report
My life
A decision
To accept
Or
Decline

And as my
Sleeve serves
As a handkerchief
For my eyes
Rinse my mouth
In the sink

My phone
Buzzes
Her
As I speak
Softly
She tells me

She's not
Going anywhere

Refreshing
Reassuring
My no longer
Blood shot
Eyes
Tighten
My tie
Winking
At my smile
In the mirror
Knowing what
I have to
Do
